Oblivion

Another from the Big Island on Hawaii. I was driving back on the Saddle Rd from the Volcano National Park and we came across a lava field. It appeared the road we were on had been carved out of the flow which gave an incredible contrast between mother nature and man. Intrigued by the scale of the lava, we pulled over to investigate. Walking around I noticed this lone tree springing up out of the rock. In the distance, one of the many cinder cone formations from the dormant volcano Mauna Kea. With camera in hand, this is the shot I captured. Canon 5D MkIII – 24-70mm.
