Babies!

This week I managed to get to a couple of friend’s places to take a few shots of the new additions to their families. Taking photos of kids is always a challenge, but very rewarding. Like everything, light is the main factor I consider when out on location. I try to get away with just natural light from a window or similar, but have my flash on hand just in case which I use to bounce off a ceiling or wall to soften the light. I also have my softboxes but only pull them out as last resort. I’m generally moving around a small room. Here’s a few of the shots from this weeks shoots.

Search4Hurt Magazine

A few weeks ago I was asked to help out Australian Water Polo with some photos for a magazine called Search 4 Hurt. I caught up with the superstar Rowie Webster who is a member of the Australian Womens Water Polo team the Stingers. Here are some of the images that we came up with, including the front page cover of the Search 4 Hurt magazine!

Let there be light!

One lesson I’ve learnt with photography is that light is everything. I finally invested in some studio lighting and backdrops to play around with and learn some new techniques. Unfortunately one of the bulbs had smashed on the way so could only play with one of the softboxes. This still allowed me to capture a couple of shots of some objects lying around. This is my pride and joy – cort acoustic guitar.
